Physical Education
Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live. - Jim Rohn
P.E. Philosophy
My main emphasis as an educator is to push my students to heights they never thought were possible, to set and achieve goals they always dreamt were unreachable, and to provide a positive, enjoyable, safe environment. Health science is a huge concern for the current and upcoming generations. According to the CDC, “Since 1980, the percentage of children who are overweight has more than doubled”. This statistic is devastating, and as a teacher I feel it is my responsibility to include physical and health education into my daily academic regimen. My teaching goal is to provide health-related and skill-related fitness concepts and skills in order to create an environment that promotes the development of life long movers. All students will be provided with the necessary information and tools to equip them with the knowledge and understanding to promote a healthy lifestyle. Numerous teaching strategies will be incorporated into lessons in order to address students’ diverse learning styles. Students will be formally and informally assessed in the psychomotor, health science, and nutritional knowledge using skill tests, rubrics, checklists and written evaluations. The overall goal is that each students will receive a productive, motivational and informative learning environment that is developmentally appropriate, skill-related, progressive, challenging and enjoyable. |
